Buy Nothing Day
Parallel to the infamous Black Friday there is also the Buy Nothing Day. Artist Ted Dave founded Buy Nothing Day in Vancouver, Canada, already 30 years ago and it became a worldwide event, including as well the invitation to not only avoid shopping, but keep electric appliances off during the whole day, not traveling anywhere by car, and not use mobile phones.
What fits better to express your objection to our consumer-based culture than to take a walk, with friends, with family, enjoying one of the last and free non-consuming activities left.
Walking is a message to slow down, and transforms Black Friday into Walk Friday.
