Ella Parry-Davies is the facilitator of Home Makers, a collection of sound walks recorded and co-edited with migrant domestic workers in the UK and Lebanon, and designed to be listened to in sites of significance to them. These walks and recordings range from memories of an activist picnic in London’s Kensington Gardens, to a car park in Beirut that was the site of an escape from abusive employers.

Ella also recently conducted research with Filipino precarious migrants in the UK on the impact of COVID-19, and looked at how migrant populations are affected by world events and how their perspectives can be shared through the arts.

Ella’s piece, Home Makers, is one of the 13 shortlisted pieces for the Sound Walk September 2020 Awards.

Join us for an online meet-up with Ella. After a short introduction about her work, we will follow up with an interactive discussion between Ella and you, the attendees of this café.
We will be joined by several members of the Alliance of Migrant Domestic Workers in Lebanon, with whom Ella worked in the Levant in connection with Home Makers.
