Walk with gratitude

18 Sep, 2023

Coming up this week is not only autumn in the northern hemisphere, but also World Gratitude Day on September 21st!

It all began in 1965 in Hawaii when an international gathering decided it was crucial to bring the world together to express gratitude and appreciation for all the beautiful things in the world.

This marked Gratitude Day the following year. Since then, it has grown into an international celebration!

And what has walking to do with gratitude? Not only can a bit of gratitude go a very long way. Taking time to appreciate the little things can bring about big joy. And there is walking about. Gratitude and walking have also in common that they are actually good for your own health too? You can boost your immune system, lower stress levels and improve sleep by being thankful, just as much as with walking. So why not walking with gratitude and receive a double dose of health benefits.

Maybe you are grateful about or to a place? Why not express your gratitude for a beloved spot in your town or city with an audio story on WLC’s Placecloud, our open access tool for locative podcasts.

With Placecloud you can geolocate your short audio stories (called "viewpoints") about places that are significant to you. and allows you to (virtually and physically) walk these places while listening.

You can register and sign in on Placecloud via following link, giving you free access to add your first personal audio story.

As well no better occasion than to add your contribution during this month's Sound Walk September, and don’t forget to submit your Sound Walks this months

All Sound Walks, created after September 2022 and submitted until 30 September 2023 are eligible for the Sound Walk September Awards 2023. Submit your work here.

Walking Artworks that are not a sound walk is as well eligible for an award, our Marŝarto Awards, going along with Walktober. Also for this award you can submit your work via the link above, and receive our gratitude with a price on top of if.
