Wander the streets

24 Sep, 2023

It’s less than a week until the submission deadline for the Sound Walk September Awards 2023. Have you released a soundwalk in the last 12 months? Or you know someone who has? Make sure it’s submitted for consideration.

For the first time, this year we are offering cold hard cash for the winners and honourable mentions.

Winners will get a minimum of 250 euros. But, the height of the prize money depends on how many of you support walk · listen · create financially. We’re perhaps a dozen supporters away from doubling the prize money.
We would be very grateful if you are able to chip in.

Did you produce new walking art in 2022 or 2023 that’s not a soundwalk? We got you covered; submit your work for the Marŝarto Awards. The deadline for this is October 31.

This coming Friday, September 29, we are participating in The World Wide Wander, a day of free walking workshops, ideas, insights and inspiration, lead by Street Wisdom.

The day is built up, over 12 hours, around 6 hybrid walkshops in six cities around the world. Each and all of these events you can participate in, from wherever you are.

I’ll be hosting the walkshop set in São Paulo, and there are others in Melbourne, Bangalore, Berlin, Nairobi, and New York.
Besides the six hybrid walkshops, there are also 24 physical meet-ups which you can join, all over Europe and North America.
Street Wisdom’s philosophy is centred around tapping into the public space to facilitate personal inspiration. By taking a step back, slowing down, and looking anew at what we find around us, we might be able to learn something about ourselves.

Sounds good? Participate, by signing up here.

Meanwhile, if you are suffering from high (or low) temperatures, and feel like staying inside today, you might appreciate Sound Walk Stories Sunday, which is happening later today. Here, the shortlisted works for our Write About Walking A/way writing competition will be read by their authors.
Quick! There still is time!

Keep walking, see you online!
