From here to there seeking out lost paths with Jack Cornish

Hundreds of thousands of miles of paths reach into, and connect, communities across England and Wales, however, there are several thousand that have been lost or barricaded over the years. Walking artists and activist, Jack Cornish has dedicated the last five years of his life to walking these forgotten routes.
We’re doubling the prize money for our awards
Thanks to you, we’ve reached the first goal of our membership program, which means that we are doubling the prize money for our walking arts awards, the Sound Walk September Awards, and the Marŝarto Awards.

WALC – a new future of walking arts
Walking Arts & Local Communities (WALC) is an artistic cooperation project, co-funded by the European Union, establishing an International Center for Artistic Research and Practice of Walking Arts, backed up by an online counterpart in the format of a digital platform for walking arts. The project leans strongly on involving local inhabitants, and on engaging with local activists.

Exploring the motor city on foot
The collectives Jalan Gembiro, from Indonesia, and Walkspace, from the UK, came together to explore their cities, Yogyakarta and Birmingham, both primarily designed for cars, on foot.
Stories of place from Regional New South Wales
Australian arts organisation, Orana Arts is partnering with walk · listen · create, to offer a prize in the new writing competition, Neighbourhood Narratives – stories around us. An invitation has been extended to creatives, living and working in Regional New South Wales (NSW), to write about Regional NSW—a region being any town, small city or area that falls beyond the major capital cities.

Heart Maps, Down the Line: An Ambulatory Audio Adventure
A unique ambulatory audio experience across two hours took people on a sound walk around the seaside town of Apollo Bay, on Gadubanud Country led by an imagined radio show hosted by project creators Amy Tsilemanis and traditional owner Richard Collopy. Participants were then transported to a theatrical scene on the beach, extending the stories heard in the audio then walked across the Great Ocean Road and into the Apollo Bay museum where a further soundscape and live singing in Indigenous language completed the experience: an exploration of how we connect with places and with each other, across the past present and future.

There is this to be said for walking: it’s the one mode of human locomotion by which a man proceeds on his own two feet, upright, erect, as a man should be, not squatting on his rear haunches like a frog.
