Live from Prespa, we are joined by Greek artists Aimilia Siafarika and Iro Grigoriadi to dive into a conversation about “Walking Visions”, the topic of the Walking Encounters 2023. The artists, will be joined in discussion with the coordinators and artistic committee of the Encounters 2023 event.

When Greek artists mobilized to oppose the presidential decree 85/2022 that devalued their degrees. Hundreds of people unified in marches crossing the entire city, creating a visible trace connecting the Parliament and the occupied theatres. Soon, the protest walks turned into walks of vision and the occupied theatres turned into heterotopia where students, workers, artists envisioned and carved out the future.

The artists focus their visions on walking as a meeting place between our internal and external shifts. A means of transport between past and future. We contemplate the interweave of the personal and the collective pathways. Recognizing that we live in a state of constant transit, we search fixed points of reference, to mark new “trailheads”, thus drawing connections between walking and ritualistic practices.

The conversation is an invitation to reflect on personal paths of the past and to co-create our collective future.
